Discover the highlights of Phnom Penh and the iconic landmarks. After breakfast, your guide will greet you at the lobby and then escort you to the Killing Fields of Choeung Ek. The Killing Fields were a place of execution and burial of people considered a threat or enemy of the Khmer Rouge regime (1975-1979). You'll walk near the fields which have been excavated, and see the monument which now houses the skulls of the victims. You'll also see an old tree which is notable for its eerie and death-like appearance. You'll also watch a video where you'll learn about the tragedies that happened at this site. Next, you'll continue to Toul Sleng Genocide Museum. Prior to 1975 Toul Sleng was a high school. When Khmer Rouge came to power in 1975 they converted it into the S-21 prison. Â In the afternoon, you'll continue to the National Museum where you will see the largest collection in the world of Khmer history, arts and architecture on display. You will also visit the Silver Pagoda, which has 5,000 silver tiles on the floor and then you'll visit the Royal Palace where the Khmer royal family lives. Finally, you'll visit Wat Phnom. This morning, experience the authentic sights, sounds, and smells one of a traditional Cambodian market - Samrong Knong Market. As you approach the market, you'll pass through Cambodian villages where you can see local life in action. These villages offer a glimpse into the daily routines of the local people. See the memorial site for the victims of the Khmer Rouge at Wat Samrong Knong Pagoda. This historic and serene temple features ancient stupas, offering a tranquil environment for reflection and relaxation. Take a moment to delve into the somber history of the "Killing Fields Memorial" within the temple precincts. This poignant site, once used as a prison and torture ground during the Khmer Rouge regime, serves as a powerful reminder of Cambodia's turbulent past. We stop along the way to discover the local rural way including small cottage industries producing sticky-rice cooked in bamboo, rice paper making, dried banana’s (like a roll up), and smelly fish paste making.  Then drive 13km to north of Battambang to visit Wat Ek Phnom – an ancient Hindu temple that was built in the 11th century during the Angkor Wat era by King Suryavarman II. In front of the ruins of Wat Ek Phnom stands the multi-colored, modern-day pagoda of Wat Ek Phnom with a majestic white-stoned Buddha, surrounded by 18 Bodhi trees.  In the late afternoon, transfer to Siem Reap, a journey that will take approximately 3 hours drive. As you travel, you will pass through charming provincial towns, quaint villages, and roadside hamlets, each offering a glimpse into the vibrant life of the Cambodian countryside. We depart hotel at 8.00am for full day guided Angkor exploration, start with the south gate of Angkor Thom atop 4 giant faces, stroll to explore Bayon temple consisting of more than 200 smiling faces in stone, admired by interesting temples including Baphuon, Phimeanakas, terrace of leper king, terrace of elephant & Ta Prohm temple adorned with the stunning tree roots where Lara Croft Tomb Raider was filmed.  After lunch, continue to witness the marvelous Angkor Wat – the world’s heritage listed by UNESCO in 1992 and the largest monument in the world. Unlock the amazing history, its ancestral incredible, architectural masterpieces and the finest carvings dates back to the Khmer Empire when it dominated the largest parts of Southeast Asia. In the morning, head out of City about 35km to visit an ancient Hindu temple at the countryside, Banteay Srei, was built from 968-1001 AD, is dedicated to Shiva God. In Cambodia it is a unique pink sandstone temple which has most beautiful deep carvings, along the way stops by at Palm Sugar Village to see product from palm tree and how to make sugar palm. After that visit a Little Angel City, an orphanage which is situated just at the outskirts of Siem Reap city. Then visit the ancient Khmer civilization site of Hariharalaya, which flourished in the late 9th and early 10th Centuries. These are the earliest temples in the Angkor area and are referred as the Rolous group. The three Rolous temples are Bakong Temple Mountain with wonderful carvings on the false doors and lintels, the funerary temple of Preah Ko, Lolei Temple with the Rolous group's most exquisite carvings and inscriptions. Move on to stunning village on stilts Kompong Phluk. Due to the increase in volume up to 10 times of the Tonle Sap Lake towards the end of the rainy season, all the fishing villages adjacent to it are built on stilts as high as 6-7 meters.
